§ 74-87. Exemptions.

  • The following signs are exempt from the permit required in section 74-86:

    (1)

    Required signs specified in section 74-147.

    (2)

    Traffic or provisional warning signs or structures providing street or traffic information or directions when required or erected by a governmental agency.

    (3)

    Temporary signs specified in section 74-148.

    (4)

    Signs not exceeding four square feet in area per sign that are used to assist traffic flow or parking on private property.

    (5)

    Signs within a lobby or courtyard not visible from a public right-of-way, provided that the signs meet the structural requirements for signs as specified in the South Florida Building Code, as amended.

    (6)

    Holiday decorations that do not require structural support or electrical connections unless a licensed electrician is required to obtain a permit to undertake the work.

    (7)

    No trespassing and no dumping signs on private property, not to exceed four square feet in area per sign and not to be closer than 100 feet to another such sign, except that permission may be obtained from the director for additional signs under proven special circumstances.
