§ 90-69. Temporary certificates for for-hire cars for horse racing season.

  • (a)

    Upon proper application and with the approval of the city council, temporary certificates of public convenience and necessity may be issued to approved operators of for-hire cars during the period in which horse racing is conducted in the city, upon terms and conditions as to the payment of license fees to be fixed by the city council at the time of granting such certificates. All the requirements of this article shall apply to vehicles operated pursuant to such temporary certificates.

    (b)

    It is unlawful for any person holding a temporary certificate of public convenience and necessity for the operation of a for-hire car, during the period in which horse racing is conducted in the city, to advertise by poster, handcard, telephone directory, or by any other means that he is licensed to operate a for-hire car in the city at any time other than during the period in which horse racing is conducted in the city.

    (c)

    Any person holding a temporary certificate of public convenience and necessity for the operation of a for-hire car during the period in which horse racing is conducted in the city who places posters, handcards, wall stickers, or any other means of advertising in public view during the days of horse racing in the city shall be required to remove the advertising from public view on the last day of racing at Hialeah Racetrack.
