§ 7-19. Sign maintenance.

  • (a)

    Maintenance. All signs shall be maintained in a safe, presentable and sound structural condition, which includes the replacement of defective parts, repainting, cleaning and other acts required for the maintenance of signs and surrounding areas.

    (b)

    Abandoned signs. An abandoned sign shall have all sign copy replaced with a blank face.

    (c)

    Ineffective signs. Any sign, except authorized temporary signs, located on property that becomes vacant and unoccupied for a period of 90 days or more, or any sign which pertains to a purpose that no longer applies, shall be deemed ineffective and as such, shall be considered an abandoned sign.

    (d)

    Dangerous or defective signs. No person shall permit or maintain any sign that is in a dangerous or defective condition on premises in the city. Any such sign shall be removed or repaired by the owner of the sign or by the owner of the premises.

    (e)

    Unlawful signs. No person shall install or maintain, or causes to install or maintain, on any premises in the city any sign that is prohibited or any sign or any sign that does not comply with the provisions of this regulation or any sign that has not received a valid permit unless exempted therefrom.
